DESCRIPTION
Piatella is a hash format with roots in European artisan extraction. Traditionally produced through cold-separation, isolating trichome heads at low temperatures before hand-pressing the collected material into its characteristic soft, pliable form. Denser in trichome concentration than conventional pressed hash, darker in appearance and noticeably more resinous in texture. A format that takes considerably more time and care to produce than a standard block press.
At 90% THCA Berry Fuel sits at the very top of the concentration range across all Piatella products at The Bud Works. A small amount in the infuser is enough to get the full character of the profile.
Berry Fuel pairs two profiles that approach the same aromatic space from opposite directions and meet in the middle. The pine character that runs through both Jet Fuel and Berry White is the connective tissue that makes the blend work - it's present in both profiles independently and it amplifies in combination without becoming dominant.
Jet Fuel, developed by 303 Seeds in Colorado from a cross of Aspen OG and High Country Diesel, leads with the sharp pine, bright lemon and heavy diesel primary character the profile is known for. The SFV OG Kush lineage from the Aspen OG side provides the earthy, kushy structural depth underneath. The East Coast Sour Diesel genetics from the High Country Diesel side is where the fuel-forward and pungent primary character comes from. It's assertive and immediate and it doesn't soften easily.
Berry White is what softens it. A Blueberry x White Widow cross, Berry White brings sour blueberry and velvety mixed berry primary notes alongside the pine and earthy depth of the White Widow side. Myrcene provides the earthy, herbal warmth at the base. Caryophyllene adds peppery spice. Limonene contributes citrus brightness that sits alongside rather than against the lemon character from the Jet Fuel side. The berry character is smooth and rounded rather than sharp - it sits against the diesel and pine of the Jet Fuel and creates a contrast that makes both profiles more interesting in combination than they would be alone.
In the cup the berry and fruit character comes through first, softer and more approachable than the Jet Fuel alone would suggest. The pine and diesel depth builds as the brew steeps. The earthy spice from the Caryophyllene and the White Widow lineage is there at the base of the cup when the brew has fully opened. Worth giving it the full steep time.

How to brew: take a small piece, break it down and place in your infuser or tea bag. Pour water at around 80°C. Steep for 4 to 5 minutes. Worth trying without milk first - the contrast between the berry and diesel character is most vivid in a straight brew. Adding milk softens the fuel edge and brings the blueberry and velvety berry notes forward.

The result is denser in trichome concentration than conventional pressed hash, more expressive in terpene character, and softer and more workable in texture. It's a time-intensive format with lower yield per batch than standard pressed hash which is why it stays small batch and availability is limited.
At 90% THCA, Berry Fuel sits at the very top of the concentration range across the entire Piatella range at The Bud Works. The terpene character is proportionally expressive in the cup and a small amount goes a long way. The berry notes come through first and most clearly. The diesel and pine depth builds as the brew opens. The earthy spice is at the base of the cup when the brew has fully developed. Four to five minutes at 80°C gives the full profile room to express itself properly.

THCA is tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in raw hemp. It belongs to the same family of plant compounds as CBDA found in hemp flower. Just as ginger contains compounds in its raw form that change when cooked, THCA exists in its natural acid form in unheated hemp. It's non-psychoactive in this state and is not a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
