DESCRIPTION
Hemp has been pressed into hash for centuries. The Ice O'Lator, or ice water hash method, is one of the most established cold-separation approaches in that tradition. Traditionally the process involves agitating plant material in ice water to separate trichome heads from plant matter at low temperatures, then collecting and pressing the separated resin into its final form. The cold temperature makes trichome stalks brittle and allows heads to separate cleanly, which is why ice water hash is traditionally associated with a cleaner and more resin-rich end product than many other hash formats.
The terpene profile associated with the Ice O'Lator designation is built around Myrcene, Beta-Caryophyllene and Terpinolene. Myrcene at 18.99% provides the earthy, resinous base character. Beta-Caryophyllene at 13.21% contributes the black pepper spice and earthy pungency at the primary level. Terpinolene at 12.93% adds the pine, herbal and slightly floral complexity that gives the profile its layered quality. Alpha-Pinene at 7.77% provides additional pine and woody structure. The combined aromatic character is peppery and spicy at the top level with sweet resinous and earthy depth underneath and a subtle pine and herbal complexity running through it. How to brew: break a small piece and place in your infuser or tea bag. Pour water at around 80°C. Steep for 4 to 5 minutes. A splash of full-fat or oat milk helps the fat-soluble compounds integrate into the brew.
