DESCRIPTION
Hemp has been pressed into hash for centuries. The process consolidates resin-rich plant material into a dense, cohesive form that brews cleanly and consistently in hot water. One of the oldest and most established hemp formats in existence and one of the most practical for a daily tea ritual. Break a piece, place it in an infuser, pour hot water over it and the profile releases steadily through the steep.
Skunk #1 was developed by Sacred Seeds from a three-way cross of Afghani, Acapulco Gold and Colombian Gold. The Afghani side provides the earthy, resinous grounding that runs through the base of the profile. Acapulco Gold and Colombian Gold contribute the sativa-adjacent lift and the sour, pungent primary character that defines Skunk #1 and made it one of the most recognisable profiles in European hemp culture across the 1980s and 1990s. Myrcene dominates at 68.5% and provides the earthy, herbal and pungent base character. Alpha-Pinene at 11% adds the woody, fresh pine note alongside the sour skunk primary. Limonene at 9.7% provides a light citrus background. In the cup the sour pungent character comes through immediately and clearly. The earthy and pine depth develops as the brew steeps. It's a bold cup that announces itself from the start.

How to brew: break a small piece and place in your infuser or tea bag. Pour water at around 80°C. Steep for 4 to 5 minutes. A splash of full-fat or oat milk helps the fat-soluble compounds integrate into the brew.

THCA as a Naturally Occurring Hemp Compound
THCA is tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in raw hemp. It belongs to the same family of plant compounds as CBDA found in hemp flower. Just as ginger contains compounds in its raw form that change when cooked, THCA exists in its natural acid form in unheated hemp. It's non-psychoactive in this state and is not a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
