DESCRIPTION
Piatella is a hash format with roots in European artisan extraction. Traditionally produced through cold-separation, isolating trichome heads at low temperatures before hand-pressing the collected material into its characteristic soft, pliable form. Denser in trichome concentration than conventional pressed hash, darker in appearance and noticeably more resinous in texture. A format that takes considerably more time and care to produce than a standard block press.
What makes this Piatella different to the standard Watermelon Zkittlez in the range is what's inside it. This is a Type 2 hemp product - 42% THCA and 37% CBG in the same block. Most hemp products are built around a single dominant cannabinoid. Type 2 hemp is a different category entirely.
CBG - cannabigerol - is the mother of all cannabinoids. CBGA, its acid form, is the biosynthetic precursor from which THCA, CBDA and most other major cannabinoids in the plant are produced. During plant growth, the vast majority of CBGA converts into those downstream compounds - which is why standard hemp products typically carry around 1% CBG. Getting to 37% requires specific Type 2 genetics and deliberate cultivation choices. Early research into CBG is at the preclinical stage but is generating genuine scientific interest, with studies exploring potential anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective and antibacterial properties. The entourage effect - the understanding that multiple cannabinoids present together may interact and potentially enhance each other's properties - means a cup with 42% THCA and 37% CBG together is a different proposition to a cup with either one alone.

Zkittlez, from Grape Ape and Grapefruit lineage, adds tropical candy depth and grape-adjacent warmth underneath. Limonene dominates across both parents, providing the bright citrus lift. Myrcene contributes earthy warmth at the base. Caryophyllene adds peppery structural depth. In the cup the sweet watermelon and candy character comes through vividly from the first pour. The tropical and grape depth develops as the brew steeps.

How to brew: take a small piece, break it down and place in your infuser or tea bag. Pour water at around 80°C. Steep for 4 to 5 minutes. Adding full-fat or oat milk helps the fat-soluble compounds integrate into the brew.

THCA as a Naturally Occurring Hemp Compound
THCA is tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in raw hemp. It belongs to the same family of plant compounds as CBDA found in hemp flower. Just as ginger contains compounds in its raw form that change when cooked, THCA exists in its natural acid form in unheated hemp. It's non-psychoactive in this state and is not a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
