RS11 is a hybrid bred by Deo Farms of Oakland from Pink Guava and Sunset Sherbet. Short for Rainbow Sherbert #11 and released with LA's Wizard Trees, it's known for a gas-and-mango nose over sweet sherbet cream, and it's now one of the most-searched strain names in the UK. Here it's available from The Bud Works as a lab-tested THCA hash tea.

Where RS11 came from

RS11 comes from Deo Farms (Deep East Oakland), the same team behind Zoap. While working through a line of Rainbow Sherbert seedlings, they numbered each keeper. Number 11 stood out, and the name stuck: Rainbow Sherbert #11, now usually written RS11 or RS-11.

LA brand Wizard Trees took on the cut and released it around 2022, alongside a sibling, RS-54. The Deo Farms and Wizard Trees pairing gave it instant connoisseur credibility in California, and the reputation travelled fast from there.

Gas on the nose, mango and sherbet in the cup. It shouldn't be this balanced, and it is.

RS11 genetics and lineage

RS11 is most often listed as Pink Guava x Sunset Sherbet: a gassy, tropical parent crossed with a sweet, creamy one.

Pink Guava is Deo Farms' own selection, built from the OZ Kush (OZK) project. It brings the gas, the tropical fruit and the Kush depth at the back of the profile.

Sunset Sherbet is the famous Girl Scout Cookies child from Mario Sherbinski, and one of the most-used dessert parents in modern breeding. It's also behind Lemon Cherry Gelato and London Pound Cake.

Some menus give a longer pedigree, (OZK x Pink Guava) x Sunset Sherbet. Deo Farms hasn't published a definitive breakdown, so treat the detail with some caution.

Is RS11 indica or sativa?

It's a balanced hybrid. Strain databases don't push it strongly either way, which fits a profile that sits between bright tropical fruit and a heavier Kush base.

Worth knowing

Indica and sativa describe plant ancestry and structure more than anything you can predict about a product. The terpene profile tells you far more. More in Sativa, Indica, Hybrid: Do They Still Matter?

RS11 terpene profile

Our current batch is led by three terpenes, in this order:

LeadsCaryophyllenePeppery · warm · spicy

The gassy, peppery backbone and the Kush note at the back. The only common terpene known to bind directly to the CB2 receptor.

SupportsLimoneneCitrus · bright · sweet

Lifts the mango, apricot and peach notes and keeps the sherbet side bright.

RoundsHumuleneWoody · earthy · dry

A dry, woody note, also found in hops, that stops the sweetness from running away with the cup.

Terpene order varies by batch and grower. New to terpenes? Start with Terpenes: What They Are and Why They Matter.

What does RS11 smell like?

Gas first, with mango and something close to tar on the nose. In the cup it turns floral and fruity: mango, apricot and peach, then a sweet sherbet ice-cream note from the Sunset Sherbet side, with a Kush depth at the finish.

That gas-meets-dessert contrast is what RS11 is known for. Neither side wins outright.

Why is it called RS11?

RS stands for Rainbow Sherbert, the line of seedlings Deo Farms was working through, and 11 is the number of the keeper they selected. Its sibling RS-54 was named the same way. You'll see it written RS11, RS-11 and Rainbow Sherbert #11; they're the same strain.

RS11 as a THCA hash tea

At The Bud Works, RS11 is a pressed THCA hash tea. Our current batch is lab tested at 35% THCA, led by caryophyllene, limonene and humulene, with Delta-9 THC at or below the 0.2% UK limit. The full certificate of analysis is on the product page.

Pressed hash releases its aroma steadily through a steep, which lets each side of the profile come through in turn:

First minute

Gas and a floral mango note lift off the cup first.

Minutes 2–3

Apricot, peach and sweet sherbet fill in behind.

By minute 5

A Kush depth settles in at the base of the cup.

Brewing tip

Around 80°C rather than a rolling boil keeps more of the volatile limonene. Full method in Making the Cup.

Intended for hot-water herbal tea infusion only. Not for combustion.
